the law students clutter...

its quite a funny thought to ponder about my expectations before i entered law school. during those times i had a high regard for law students (those know it all bastards) standing proudly in their polo barongs prowling the streets of dapitan while puffing their daily intake of nicotine and tar. i was a freshmen AB student that time and for me it was a classic sight just like a child seeing for the first time the heroes that he admired, and promised to himself one day ill be wearing the same off-white polo barong armed with that law school smile and pride.

years have passed and now i am one of them, i realized that the study of law is not as regal as it promised. during my stay i'ved encountered and still encountering law students that is considerably far more lazy than your unemployed kapitbahay *law professors are no exception* advocates of procrastination. this is ofcourse in contrast with the image projected by law students that is ideally hard working and persevering at all times. In addition it is also a misknowmer to say that "uy law student matalino" the layman always gives out these lines as if law student is synonymous to the word intellectual, but believe me it is not always a case of that. in law school ived seen the best of minds but it is also here wherein i encountered the worst, the likes of which that should be reeducated and sent back to sunday school.

on the otherhand, i am quite impressed on how majority of the law students nowadays know how to live a holistic life, observing the proper interplay between social and intellectual life it is indeed a literal application of the cliche "study hard, party harder". to back this up it is here where ived seen the hardest drinkers that ever lived they were probably a jelo shot away from alcohol poisoning yet they can still pull it off whenever the time for recitation comes.

im not writing this post to demerit law students like me, its just i dont want our class to be overrated by the society, this is just a short list of some of the negative things existing in law school life, theres more to this but i dont want to issue you a spoiler, its enough that ived painted a picture of what to expect, what is left is for you to experience.

the law students must haves...

1. tons of law books *literally*
2.a set of pens, pencils, and highlighters
3.a cup of brewed coffee
4.a pack of marlboro lights *stress buster*
5.a narra dining table
6.and some spare change to buy sanity

six months of my phone’s absence never failed to give me this feeling of unwanted peace of mind. it has been a long period of isolation, unupdated, and left me unabreast with the latest chimis specifically with regard the lives of my friends and classmates.

finally the long wait is over. after months of heavy persuasion my father gave in, yesterday i bought a worn out, scratch proof, and uber abused “6600″ phone at isetan recto. it was a cheap bargain. 1,700 bucks for a second hand obsolete camera phone filled with features enough to make your grandma dizzy and experience second childhood.

honestly speaking im having second thoughts on buying a second hand phone i wanted to own a brand new i-phone 3G *dream on* in the first place but my idealism was shattered by a forced and unwillfully given 2000 pesos, where in hell can i find a 2000 peso i-phone? reality check, im on a tight budget so i just have to bear with it, recto was my last resort.

at first i was skeptical regarding the phones durabilty given that it is a pre-owned stuff it might have some “hidden” problems waiting to explode, in that case i may not be getting my money’s worth. futhermore im also having doubts especially with the manner the phone is acquired it is an open secret that recto is a haven for snatchers and i have a first hand experience to back this up.

the integrity of the phones aquisition has always been a factor for me, maybe not this time, desperate times calls for desperate measures so succumbed to my innate cheapness which is in fact natural to me and bought the phone na mukang mainit init pa at fresh galing sa nakaw.

i guess what comes around, goes around.
